The Chitterybite Ceilidh Band have an established track record operating as a ceilidh collective providing top quality traditional musicians for corporate and private ceilidh dance events. The Band place great importance on the role of their caller and every Chitterybite Lineup features this important individual who helps instruct with the dances and entertains the dancers with some good crack!
The Chitterybite Ceilidh Band can also call on a variety of top quality musicians playing fiddle, accordion, piano, guitar, mandolins, bouzouki and whistle and there are often vocalists who provide a few songs in between the dances.
Originally formed in 1998, Chitterybite comprises the following characters; Colour Sargeant Georgie Shand, Fiddler extraordinaire and Caller for the dancers, gentleman Al Smith on whistles, Graeme ( Fieldy ) Lindsay on guitar, Doc fingerz Crean on piano, vocals and guitar, Neil (extreme folky) Thomson on vocals, bouzouki and mandolin, Ian MacDonald on drums and Ronnie Thomson on fiddle.
But... What exactly is a Chitterybite?!
A Chitterybite is defined as any form of sweet tasting nourishment that comes to hand when towelling down after a brisk, sharp engaging swim off the coast of Scotland in summer or winter. There's nothing like having a good chitter and a wee munch! A Chitterybite is very similar to the teacake made by a very famous biscuit manufacturer in Uddingston Glasgow. The humble Tunnock's Teacake is recommended by this band as the best type of Chitterybite to consume if the need for nourishment arises in an outdoor situation on the west of Scotland when wet. Other recommended morsels include the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer, The Tunnock's Snowball, The Tunnock’s Caramel Log and any Cadbury's Mini Rolls you can get to hand.

Sue Angus MCSP, Wedding at Culcreuch Castle, Fintry
Rob and I wanted to get in touch to say thank you to you all for such a great ceilidh at our evening reception. It was exactly as we wanted it to be and felt like a big party with all our family and friends. So many people have been in touch with us to say they had a great time and it was one of the best ceilidh’s they had been to at a wedding. I was diagnosed with breast cancer a few weeks before the wedding and started chemotherapy just a few days after the wedding so it was really important to us that it was a happy day and we really felt like it was so thanks very much.

This was our guest’s first experience of a Ceilidh band and everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves it has been the talk of our wedding.... despite few of us actually being able to grasp the dances! Fantastic band and atmosphere! Can't thank you enough.
Megan and Anthony Hagger, Wedding at Carmichael Estate, Lanark
Chitterybite played at our wedding in September, and it was a perfect end to a perfect day: the band were great, really enthusiastic and friendly and had no problem filling the dance floor from the very first song. Everybody had a fantastic time, including the band! Please pass on mine and Anthony's thanks to the guys, it really was exactly spot on.
