PROVIDING THE UK'S MOST POPULAR ACTS

Ian Stone

Ranked amongst the top ten stand-ups in Britain by The Independent, Ian Stone is one of the most talented topical acts and comperes on the circuit. Edgy and provocative, with an easy-going manner and self-depreciating style, Ian is at great ease bantering with an audience. He's also a member of the Comedy Store's critically acclaimed 'Cutting Edge' team. He has performed all over the world including Comedy Festivals in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, South Africa, Holland, France, Ireland and Germany (not many Jewish comedians have performed there in the last fifty years). He has also performed to 55,000 people in 40 days on tour with Ardal O'Hanlon and Alan Davies.

He has headlined gigs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the Middle East, performed on the final transatlantic crossing of The QE2, entertained troops in Kuwait and Bosnia and played various clubs in New York. He has headlined at the prestigious Yuk-Yuk clubs in Canada, compered the main theatre at the Cape Town Comedy Festival 2003 and performed his one-man show in South Africa's Camps Bay Theatre in 2004. More recently he became the first British stand-up to perform in Moscow.

Ian's many television appearances include The Last Word (MORE4), The Late Edition (BBC4),The World Stands Up (Paramount Comedy 2005) The Comedy Store (Ch5 - 3 appearances, most recent in 2005), Never Mind The Buzzcocks (BBC 2), The Stand-Up Show (BBC 1), Saturday Live (ITV), Live at Jongleurs (ITV) & The 11 O'clock Show (CH4).

On radio Ian hosted his own chat show "The Big Schmooze", on BBC London, where he interviewed the likes of Jeremy Issacs, Terry Hall, Anthony Sher and Esther Rantzen. Following his stint in America, he was invited to have a live discussion with Jackie Mason on BBC Radio 4's Front Row on the subject of Jewish comedians. He has appeared on The Paul Ross Show (LBC), The Worricker Programme (Radio 5 Live) and Fighting Talk (Radio 5 Live). He has also appeared twice on 'Four at the Store' (BBC Radio 4) and being commissioned to do a number of specials for BBC Radio 7.

Ian has written gags for ITV's The Sketch Show and Alistair Mcgowans Big Impression (BBC 1) and is also a regular contributor to the Guardian, The Observer and The Independent On Sunday. He is currently busy developing several original ideas for television, and has a sitcom in development with the BBC. He's also an accomplished and experienced corporate performer; recent clients include The Hospital Doctor Awards and The Ford Motor Company.

Ian Stone was born in North-West London, the first born son of an average Jewish family. Luckily, the Pharaohs reign was over so he survived. In 1991, he took his girlfriend's advice and stepped onto a stage. Today, Ian is one of the most sought after comedians on the comedy scene. Not because of the amount of money he owes but because, in the words of Time Out, 'He looks and sounds very good indeed'.

1996 saw him venture northwards to The Edinburgh Festival with his first solo show. Since then, he's performed there twice more, the last time causing a huge fuss when the organisers objected to the title 'A Little Piece of Kike' and forced him to asterix the word in the fringe programme. "I saw a description of it." Explains Ian, "It said low-class, ill-mannered Jew and I thought: That's me!" His aunt has only just recently started talking to him again after this particular gesture. He returned to Edinburgh once again in 2006, with a brand new show.

The List
…like a cross between Tony Hancock and Frankie Howard. Stone is probably better than we deserve. Ultimately, it is the sheer quantity of funny material that really impresses.

Time Out
He looks and sounds very good indeed.

The Times
A masterful exponent of self-mocking Jewish humour.

The Guardian
Seriously funny.
