The Jazz Cannons are a magnificent classic swing, jazz, soul and pop band led by the magnetic vocalist and saxophonist Jimmy Cannon.
The band is made up of some of the UK’s finest young musicians; Graduates from some of the country’s top music schools who have worked with the likes of Robbie Williams, The Commitments and Incognito, and performed in the smash hit ‘The Rat Pack - Live From Las Vegas’, as well performing at venues as diverse as Wembley Arena and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club!
Jimmy Cannon – Lead Vocals and Sax
As bandleader, Jimmy runs the show. It’s just as well then that he’s had so much experience. As a graduate of the Trinity College of Music in London Jimmy immediately started playing with the cream of London’s musicians including Dave Finnegan's "The Commitments", The Winston Rollins Big Band, The Pasadena Roof Orchestra and The Syd Lawrence Orchestra, in venues as diverse as Ronnie Scott’s and Wembley Arena. Jimmy’s extensive experience of the corporate and private market is exemplary. He performed for Richard Branson at the inaugural Virgin flight to Dubai and a number of his New Years Eve parties, Roger Taylor's 50th birthday party and numerous high end corporate events - for the likes of Vodafone, Marks & Spencer and Price Waterhouse Coopers to name but a few. With his own big band Jimmy has performed at venues and festivals in the UK, Europe and Bangladesh!
Jerome Davis – Double Bass
Jerome studied at the Trinity College of Music in London. His career started in the legendary US vocalist’s Salena Jones band where he toured extensively through Europe and the United Arab Emirates. Most recently Jerome toured with Sony recording artist Clare Teal and has appeared with ex-Emmerdale star turned crooner Richard Shelton.
Mark Allis – Drums
Possibly the most varied CV in the band, Mark has played with artists as diverse as Frank Sinatra to Harry Hill, Mel C to Shirley Bassey and Donny Osmond to Alice Cooper. Most recently he has beaten the drum with Clare Martin, Jamelia and Charlotte Church.
Simon Finch – Trumpet
We’d need another website just to list who Simon has played with. Jools Holland, Jamie Cullum, Katie Melua and Eric Clapton to name just a few. You may have seen him on TV in shows such as Top of the Pops, The X Factor, Later with Jools and TFI Friday... remember that! If that’s not enough he also performs on the current National Lottery jingle.
Sean Hargreaves – Piano
Sean studied in New York and at the prestigious Berkley College of Music. Most recently Sean could be seen playing with the marvellous Michael Buble, the gorgeous Natalie Imbruglia, the wonderful Alison Moyet and the very cool US3. He is a regular on the UK jazz scene where he has accompanied the likes of Jim Mullen, Roger Beaujolais and Harry Beckett. As The Observer recently noted, “Along with a remarkable technique and delicate touch, Hargreaves has a flair for unusual rhythmic settings”.
Matt Hope – Sax
Currently in his second year as a regular in the smash Hit West End production of “The Rat Pack Live From Las Vegas”. Matt studied at the Trinity College of Music in London under the tutorship of Bobby Lamb of the legendry Woody Herman big band. Prior to his time in the West End, Matt immersed himself in the London jazz scene and could be seen on a regular basis at all the great venues including Ronnie Scott’s, the 606 Club and The Vortex.
Mike Innes – Trombone
Mike played in none other than Roy Castle’s band in the mid ‘90s. Incredibly he’s played on over 50 albums for the likes of Shirley Bassey, Jools Holland, The Pet Shop Boys and Gary Barlow. You’ve also probably heard him on countless TV jingles.
