K'Chevere

KChevere are one of the UKs newest Latin bands, based in Bristol. The group formed especially to perform at an open air concert for the Bath Fringe Festival 2000. Since then, they have increased the line-up from a 5-piece option to 7or 9-piece, and have performed with guest Latin artists at various venues in the UK. Influenced by artists including Ray Barretto, Patato Valdés, Eddie Palmien and various Cuban musicians, their repertoire consists of Afro-Cuban dance rhythms such as Son, Danzon and Descarga with a touch of Jazz and Salsa.

K’Chevere (Que Chevere in Spanish) is generally used in Latin America to describe good feelings, positive feedback or anything good. The word “chevere” is widely used in Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Mexico and Cuba, but it is a very familiar word throughout all Hispanic countries.
 
Influenced by artists including Ray Barretto, Patato Valdés, Eddie Palmien and various Cuban musicians, their repertoire consists of Afro-Cuban dance rhythms such as Son, Danzon and Descarga with a touch of Jazz and Salsa.

Recently K,Chevere have introduced other tropical rhythms in to their repertoire, such as Gaita from Venezuela and Cumbia from Colombia, giving the band a unique mix of rhythms found in party bands in Latin American countries.
