Mat Walklate

Mat Walklate is a professional musician and music teacher who plays Irish Traditional music on the Flute, Harmonica, Low Whistle and Tin Whistle in addition to Vocals. The core line-up for his performances consists of a trio completed by Matt Fahey on Guitar/ Vocals and Andrew Dinan on Fiddle/ Banjo/ Mandolin. Mat has recently finished his new album, ‘Cold In April’, which is 16 tracks of original and traditional tunes and songs.

Mat Walklate is a professional musician and music teacher who plays Irish Traditional music on the Flute, Harmonica, Low Whistle and Tin Whistle in addition to Vocals. The core line-up for his performances consists of a trio completed by Matt Fahey on Guitar/ Vocals and Andrew Dinan on Fiddle/ Banjo/ Mandolin.

Mat teaches harmonica and also runs music courses for Manchester Adult Education Service. He has contributed to many sessions as a harmonica player and has recently authored the 'No Excuses' Harmonica Guide CDROM, performed on the 'Jam Academy' DVD and the 'No Excuses' Guide to Celtic Music with its associated DVD.

In addition, Mat organises a bi-yearly harmonica 'shindig' in Manchester where harp players can meet, jam and learn more about the harmonica. He regularly provides workshops and writes articles for the National Harmonica League and is the North-West regional organiser for the National Harmonica League.

Mat has recently finished his new album, ‘Cold In April’, which is 16 tracks of original and traditional tunes and songs. The album took a year to complete and was engineered and produced by Tony Trundle at Cuckoo Studios.
