Penny McConnell, Corporate Event, Leicestershire
MRP jazz were cool cats! It was hardly the best venue accoustic wise, and the audience were made up of lawyers! However, they managed to fit in beautifully, and played fabulously, and to time, and contributed to creating the perfect atmosphere to the Annual Dinner. Magic men!
Alex Palmer, Corporate Event, Surrey
We just wanted to say thanks for a great evening. The band were well-organised, well-presented and friendly. The music was fantastic, just what we were looking for - and we would certainly book them again. Really fresh and professional attitude, and super-flexible to accommodate our needs. Great stuff, and thanks again.
Monica Hill (FishBurns LLP), Corporate Event, London
Hi Tracey, MPR were brilliant. Really professional and play/sung very well. I have already received comments and passed Warbles contact details on as a result. Many thanks to the team and look forward to speaking with you in the future regarding up coming events.
Caroline Jones, The Fleming Collection, London
Hi Mathew, I was very happy with MPR Jazz – you were fantastic. Great music, enthusiastic with the right amount of showmanship and responsive when we had to keep the music a bit lower than perhaps we would all have liked, particularly at the beginning of the evening. I have recommended you to the venue and wouldn’t hesitate to use you again in the future. Many thanks for your help with this.
Kathryn Pickering, Madison Soho, Birmingham
I just wanted to let you know that we were absolutely thrilled with the band and the shopping centre management were equally as thrilled. The band was professional, friendly and extremely accommodating of our requirements, we’ll definitely be looking to use them again in the future!
Sandra Skellon, The Folley, Bridgnorth
I realise that a month has passed since our wedding but I would like to say how fantastic the trio that played at our wedding were. The lads played a great part in our special day, our guests are still commenting on how they created the right atmosphere, unassuming but brilliant. We couldn’t have asked for better. My only regret is that, because of everything going on, we didn’t thank them all enough but hope that this note will suffice and would appreciate it if you could forward on our gratitude. They far exceeded our expectations but were everything that we had hoped for. Part of the job is creating the great music – the other is fitting it in to the occasion – They were perfect! Good luck to them all – they deserve everything good to come to them. Thanks again for their part in our memorable day.
Sally & Will Dobson, Olde Barn Hotel, Marston
Mat, Just wanted to say thanks for playing at our wedding….Everyone including Will and I loved the music….it was just what we wanted. The songs that you chose went down a treat….and the whole thing was so problem free…many thanks again.
Owen & Jennifer Ryder, Bagden Hall Hotel, Denby Dale
Dear Matthew, Please would you pass on our thanks on to the band members who played at our wedding reception. The “dinner jazz” nature of the music created just the right atmosphere for our guests to continue socialising after the meal whilst enjoying the high standard of the musical performance. We also appreciate the professional nature of the band members and the discreet manner in which they set up! We would be delighted to recommend MPR Jazz to anyone requiring your brand of relaxed jazz. Many thanks.
Brian & Lorraine Wilson, Stanley House, Lancashire
We would just like to say thank you very much for performing at our wedding, the band was very professional from arrival to departure, the music was first class and all the guests fully enjoyed themselves. We would also like to say a special thank you to the band for doing a special request for myself and Lorraine in which you played a song for just the 2 of us before the guests were called in.
Simone & Justin Bunker, Leeds Castle, Leeds
Hi Matt, We had a magical day at Leeds Castle and were so very pleased with the band. They did a great job and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them to any of your future clients. Please pass on our thanks to them and we wish you all the very best for the future.
Colin Ward, Uffington Manor, Stamford
Bloody Hell Mat, where did you find those guys????....... Now they were good and I mean GOOD. I don’t think I've ever hosted an event where so many people have been so impressed by the musicians, and they were so obliging…. Mat if ever I have the chance I will use these guys again, I will, hopefully with a bigger line up…. QUALITY bloody QUALITY.
Zak & Becky Hirt, Leiston Abbey, Suffolk
Hi Matt, This is a long overdue email to say thank you so much for the MPR Jazz Ensemble that you organised for our wedding. The band was fantastic; they were perfect for the style of the event, and were very professional and friendly. We hope they enjoyed themselves as much as our guests did. We would have no hesitation in recommending them to others looking for a band. Thank you again and best wishes.
Sarah Allen, Corporate Event for Black's, Brimingham
Hi Tracey, I just wanted to drop you a quick mail to say how very impressed we were with both the magician and the jazz band. The jazz band was very versatile and was well received within our event. If you could pass on our gratitude to them that would be great. Thank you for all your help.
Martin Harper, Senior Producer, This Morning, ITV Productions
I just wanted to write to 'say' a huge thank you, on behalf of Phil, Fern and everyone here at This Morning (including me of course) to the MPR Jazz Ensemble for the wonderful performance you gave at the party This Morning held for Michael and Muriel. I think the expression on Michael's face at the end of our short film said it all! Your outstanding music helped make their day very special, and we were delighted that you were able to perform so wonderfully with Ray Quinn with such little notice and rehearsal time. Thank you also for being flexible with your time, I understand that you stayed longer than anticipated, but I hope that you will agree that it was worth it, to give our two guests of honour a wonderful day that they will never forget. Thank you once again, and may I take this opportunity to wish you and the ensemble a very happy and prosperous 2008.
Rachael Mabe, Marketing and Promotions Manager, South Leicestershire College Oscars
Dear Warble, I am writing to thank you for helping our Oscars Night run so smoothly at the Walkers Stadium last Friday. The event was a real success and everyone enjoyed themselves and the great music provided courtesy of MPR Jazz Ensemble. Our 400 guests really enjoyed the music and the band arrived promptly and behaved professionally at all times. I would be delighted to use your services again and will be recommending you to the partner organisations with which we work. Please pass on my sincere thanks to Matt Richardson and the rest of MPR Jazz Ensemble for helping make our evening so special! Thanks again — you are both stars!
Mr & Mrs Burley, Wedding
Thank you and the rest of the band so very much for making our wedding reception such a fantastic occasion. The quality of music and talent amongst you all really shone through. Your flexibility with regard to the playing times was very much appreciated and everybody who we have spoken to since the wedding has mentioned how good they thought you were. We will have no hesitation in recommending the MPR Jazz Ensemble to all of our friends.
Midwives & Obstetric Dept Christmas Party
The music during dinner was perfect and my colleagues were so impressed by the way that you were able to play the requests they asked for.
Mr. J. Nottingham, Retirement Party
We felt compelled to write to you to express our delight at the performance of the MPR Jazz Ensemble, they were simply fantastic. The choice of music was perfect and the band members were dressed impeccably and were polite and professional.
Mr & Mrs Brown, Birthday Celebration
What a fantastic musicianship! We have been avid Jazz fans for many years and it was a delight to be entertained by such great players. You really helped to make our day so special indeed. Keep up the great work..!
Mr & Mrs Pearce, Wedding
Dear Mathew, Thank you very much for playing at our wedding – you were amazing and really topped the day off for us. Craig and I had such a wonderful day and so many people commented on how fantastic the band was. Thank you once again, we will certainly be recommending you! Best wishes.
Mr P Boxall (Head of Music, Worksop College) Jazz Gig
To Mathew and all, thank you so very much for playing for us. It has given a huge amount of pleasure to all those in the Great Hall tonight. With best wishes.
Mr & Mrs Balfour Paul, Wedding
Just a quick note to convey our sincerest thanks for providing The MPR Jazz Trio for our wedding day. The choice of music was exactly what we had hoped for, everyone commented on how relaxing the music was during dinner, it really was superb. Please pass on my thanks to the other members of the band.
The MPR Jazz Ensemble has a wealth of experience playing at high profile events across the country. They have appeared on ITV’s “This Morning” show with Philip Schofield and Fern Britten and have also performed as the backing band to the 2006 “X Factor” runner up, Ray Quinn. In April 2008 the band performed at Rupert Murdoch’s “News International” plant in Merseyside. Rupert Murdoch was in attendance and the event was featured in “The Times” and “The Sun” Newspapers. They have appeared at events along side personalities such as Sebastian Coe, Anthony Worrall Thompson, Duncan Bannatyne, Vince Cable, Barry Cryer and the Jonathan Ross show’s Four Puffs and a Piano.
They have also appeared at venues such as The Grosvenor House and Hilton Hotel London, The Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and the NEC Birmingham, The Crown Plaza Manchester and the Royal Berkshire Hotel Surrey, to name just a few. They have also made countless appearances at stately homes and country house hotels, for occasions such as corporate events, weddings, parties and birthday celebrations etc, as well as being engaged by the British Military on many events throughout the year.
In addition, The MPR Jazz Ensemble has performed for numerous corporate clients including: Barclays, Boots, Bosch, CORGI, Dixons, Ernest Jones, Ernst & Young, Eversheds Solicitors, Four Seasons Hotel London, HSBC Bank, IKEA, ITV Productions, Kings College London, Kumho Tyres (official club sponsor of Manchester United), The Landmark Hotel London, London Hilton Metropole, Lowery Hotel, “The Cast of the smash hit musical” MAMMA MIA, Marks & Spencer, Mint, Nat West, News International, Price Waterhouse Coopers Charted Accountants, Royal Automobile Club (Pall Mall, London), RSPCA, SS Great Britain, SONY.
The Ensembles repertoire consists of well known ‘standards’ taken mainly from ‘The Great American Songbook’. Composers such as Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Rogers & Hart and Irving Berlin with songs made famous by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and more recently Robbie Williams, Westlife and Blue.
The MPR Jazz ensemble is happy to be flexible with regard to the ensemble line up, dress code, special requests, set and playing times etc. in order to meet your requirements exactly, and to ensure that the event is a complete success and enjoyed by all.
Trio (Piano, Bass, Drums) - This size of ensemble is perfect to provide music at a background level, which is clearly audible, however does not interfere with the lively conversations taking place between family and friends or colleagues. The musicians have honed their skills over many years of playing corporate, wedding and military events, where the ability to play low level swinging music is essential. The MPR Jazz Trio creates a relaxed and classy atmosphere which greatly enhances the enjoyment of any meal or drinks reception.
Quartet (Sax, Piano, Bass, Drums) - This is one of the most versatile sizes of ensemble! Still perfectly at home playing at background level as described in the Trio section, but with the addition of the saxophone to the rhythm section, the quartet has the ability to perform a fully blown Jazz gig to any size audience. Playing a set of jazz standards fused, if necessary, with Funk, Soul and Blues for good measure. This ensemble is perfect not only for functions such as corporate, wedding, birthday and military, but also as the main evening’s entertainment at any jazz club, restaurant, venue or bar, providing a full concert for all music lovers.
Quintet (Vocals, Sax, Piano, Bass, Drums) - With the addition of the vocals to the quartet, the MPR Jazz Quintet is able to play all the famous Swing Standards from Sinatra to Ella Fitzgerald and much more.
Now that Robbie Williams has re-popularised the ‘Rat Pack’ repertoire with his number one hit ‘Have you met Miss Jones’, this is the perfect time and ensemble to entertain any audience in that style. Also performing modern ballads and bossa novas from Nora Jones and Diana Krall the quintet line up is perfect for corporate functions, weddings, birthdays and military events. Furthermore, also as the main evening’s entertainment at any Jazz club, restaurant, venue or bar.
