The Orwell Ceilidh band is a three piece group consisting of Laura Stewart, Gail Paterson and Neil Paterson. Although they are usually a 3 piece band, they can also play as a four or five piece line-up with second accordion and/ or fiddle. The band has made two CDs. ‘The Barn Rocks’ is the most recent album from the band. And their first release 'Dancing Fingers' was joint most requested CD on Ian Lees 'Saturday Dance' Programme on Radio Tay.

The Orwell Ceilidh Band takes its name from the Parish of Orwell. Milnathort is situated in Orwell Parish. Neil, Gail and Laura play at many functions and ceilidhs in the Perth and Kinross shire area and beyond.
Gail Paterson: Gail was taught to play accordion by the Late John Huband of Muirhead, near Dundee. She was a long-time member of the Muirhead Accordion Band, which performed regularly in the Dundee area, as well as on frequent visits to Ireland. She also played in a duo with John for a while including appearances on BBC Radio Scotland's 'Take The Floor'. Gail's skill at playing for dancing means she has travelled widely with various dance groups.
Laura Stewart: Laura Lives in Falkland and has played the drums for many years. Her skilled, imaginative drumming has frequently won her praise and contributes greatly to the unique sound of the Orwell Ceilidh Band. Laura is also the band's caller and is very good at getting people up to dance.
Neil Paterson: Neil plays highland, small and border pipes, as well as whistle and guitar. He lives in Inchture with wife Gail and daughter Erin. Neil has played at festivals throughout Scotland and beyond as part of various bands. He has also recorded on albums for other musicians, including Folk legends Gaberlunzie, Sheena Wellington, John watt and Tich Frier.
Moira McGibbon: Moira plays second accordion with the band when they play as a four piece. She also stands in for Gail when she is unavailable. A former member of the Muirhead accordion band and now a member of the folk duo Craggan, Moira is also a very fine piper.

The Ceilidh Orwell Band has supplied the music for dancing at many weddings and dances throughout Scotland. They have also been guests at folk festivals - including Killin June 2001, Auchtermuchty 2002 and Milnathort in 2005. They also played in Sardinia in July 2003.
Neil and Gail did a live performance on Radio Scotland's 'Take the floor' programme. The band went down well at the 2004 Shetland Accordion and Fiddle festival and will be returning in 2006.
