A function band with a difference... The skilled musicianship of Poles Apart playing party classics on the blasphemous instrumentation of sousaphone, banjo, percussion and saxophone(s) will surprise and amuse your guests! Poles Apart repertoire varies, but is generally rock 'n' roll, disco, pop and Traditional Jazz.
The ideal line-up is a four piece consisting of sousaphone, banjo, percussion and sax (including, three part harmony vocals). A three piece band is also an option for tighter budgets (banjo, sax, and sousaphone). However, one or two performers would be more appropriate as a walkabout act opposed to a show.
Poles Apart encourage audience participation and overstretch themselves to entertain!

Pole Apart have performed at several Royal Events, parties for Andrew Lloyd Webber, Rolf Harris, Richard Branson and the architect Richard Rogers, Athens Olympics, Dubai Shopping Festival, Henley and Cowes Regatta, Commonwealth Games, Millennium Dome, Earls Court, Wembley Stadium, Blenheim Palace, Royal Courts of Justice, Greys Inn, The Savoy Hotel, Natural History & Science Museums, National Portrait Gallery, Glastonbury Festival, and Epsom, Kempton, Windsor and Brighton Racecourses.
Town festivals that they have rocked are Norwich, Worcester, Leicester, Cardiff, Swansea, Brighton, Hastings, Havant, Portsmouth, Inverness, Dublin, Liverpool, Manchester, Canary Wharf, Bracknell, Bournemouth, Isle of Wight, Devizes, Arundel, Burgess Hill, Harrogate, Aylesbury, Chelmsford, Portsmouth, Sheffield, Maidstone and Southport.
In addition, Poles Apart has performed in Greece, China, Portugal, France, Dubai and Republic of Ireland, and have performed at store openings for Mothercare, Barratt's Homes, and Ikea.
We also have a dynamic street band called 'The Iron Boot Scrapers' that does not walk on stilts. For those with a tighter budget, but still want our usual outrageous performance skills, this is an option. It is roughly half the price of Poles Apart Stilts.
It has the same musicians, arrangements, and repertoire, but is not on stilts and generally works longer.
We usually perform 1 x 45, then multiples of 30 minutes; ie 2 x 30 minutes, 3 x 30 minutes, and so on, as the price goes up.
