Wonderful Band! Soul Soup played at our wedding reception September 2011. On the day they were hassle-free and fantastic to listen to. During the day my wife and I were almost too busy to give them the attention their music deserved; however, from re-watching the wedding video and the numerous comments we both received praising the band from our guests, we could not have asked for more. To book, they were easy and friendly to get on with and very professional in their approach. We would definitely use them again. Thanks!
Rosalind P, Wedding, Shropshire
We hired Soul Soup for our wedding reception. They were absolutely fantastic. Totally professional from the word go. Responded to emails and telephone calls quickly and efficiently, kept in contact to make sure we were happy, even after they had been paid in advance (!). We had a site visit and Chris made some recommendations and we discussed the type of music we wanted. They were flexible and recommended responding to the audience. How right they were! By a few tracks in, virtually everyone was dancing! Even people who I have never seen dance anywhere! We keep getting told how fantastic the band were. I can't recommend this band enough. You need a band? Soul Soup are the way to go. No competition!
Sophie F, Wedding, Shropshire
I just wanted to say a huge thankyou for playing at our wedding two weeks ago! We and everyone there thought you were fantastic, we have had lots of comments about how great you all were. As you probably noticed the dance floor was packed the whole time! Sorry about the 3 encores! Please take it as a compliment.
Sarah J, Wedding, Shropshire
We booked Soul Soup for our wedding. They were really good and gave a bit of atmosphere to our afternoon when the guests were all chilling out.
Hamish E, Wedding, Shropshire
What an absolutely fantastic night you all gave us. Your arrangement of the first dance was brilliant. Thank you so much for accommodating Polly with her song - that is something I will never forget. Everyone loved the night and you were the talk of breakfast the following day. Wishing you all the best of luck for the future! Thank you.
Sarah C-E, Wedding, Shropshire
Just to say what a fantastic night on Saturday (Hamish and Polly's wedding). I loved the music and could have danced all night. Well done, brilliant!
Tim H, Wedding, Shropshire
Soul Soup were great at our wedding. The duet in the day was fab, just enough chilled background music without been over powering and the band in the evening were great, fab tunes to make a perfect end to an amazing day. It was one wild party. Thank you
Charlie S, Wedding, Shropshire
Soul Soup were great at our wedding in June. Great music helped create a great atmosphere. Lovely guys too, highly recommend them.
Verity M, 21st Birthday Party, Yorkshire
A MASSIVE thank you for playing at my 21st a few weeks back, you were absolutely amazing and definitely made my party! I can't thank you enough!!
Ellen C, Wedding, Shropshire
Thank you ever so much for playing at our wedding on Saturday. We had such a fabulous day and the music was one of the highlights. We felt like we barely got on the dance floor for talking to our guests, which was a shame as the music was so fabulous.
Rosy M, 50th Birthday Party, Lancashire
A big thank you to Chris and all the band - they were GREAT and everyone really liked the music. I must say I'm a bit stiff after bopping with my energetic niece!! All the best for Soul Soup and we will certainly recommend them to our friends.
Katja W, Wedding, Herefordshire
The band were just fantastic we really couldn't have hoped for more. So many perople have commented on how great they are as a whole group and what a gorgeous voice Kristina has. The people who sat close by have described how you all interact and seem to enjoy what you do so much. I guess that’s the secret to your success, talent aside of course.
Kerry F, Rotary bash, Shropshire
The music was brilliant and the quality of the singing excellent and perfectly pitched at the audience. Many people have commented that they have never seen a dance floor full for the whole night! You will be highly recommended by lots of people! The whole thing was a great success due to Soul Soup and we'll certainly book you again given the opportunity.

Soul Soup - you were so professional in the meticulous preparation you did for my daughter's wedding. Chris arranged her special songs for the aisle music and first dance and the rendition of All You Need Is Love for the ceremony was fantastic. Every stage of the wedding had music - the cool piano and trumpet as people arrived, the gorgeous guitar player entertaining as the champagne and canapes were served, and best of all the full band in the evening belting out all the Motown classics. Everyone loved it!! A HUGE thank you!!
Liz C, Wedding, Shropshire
Thank you so much for playing at our wedding. We had such a great day and had loads of comments about the music. The duet you suggested for the day time worked really well and the band in the evening was amazing. Thank you for helping us with the music for the first dance too - it worked out great.
Renee P, Wedding, Shropshire
We hired Soul Soup for our wedding reception. We booked the 7 piece band and the reception was at Delbury Hall. The band arrived and set up with minimal fuss after our meal. Their music and singing is fantastic with a very professional approach. Everyone loved the band and we even had very positive comments from a number of professional musicians that were amongst our guests. We'd highly recommend Soul Soup to anyone looking for a great mix of live music from a very professional group!!
Pippa P, Wedding, Shropshire
This is a special thank-you for playing at our wedding on 29th August at Walcot Hall. You were absolutely fabulous! So full of energy and so professional. You had everyone up dancing and all of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed your music. You really made our wedding reception extra special and we are so happy that you were part of our fantastic day!
Selina H, Wedding, Shropshire
Soul Soup are simply fabulous. They played at our wedding on 11th April '09 and everyone adored them. The music was absolutely brilliant, a mix of jazz and contemporary classics which was loved by teenagers and grandparents alike, and got everyone dancing. They even learnt our first dance especially for us, and were really helpful in the planning process. They were much more 'us' and infinitely better than an average dj! I would really recommend them to anyone who wants something a bit different and definitely more special for their wedding.
Gill W, Wedding, Shropshire
Thank you so much for a fantastic evening that Soul Soup provided for my daughter's wedding on the 11th April at Madeley Court Mill. The music was brilliant and I had so many enquiries from guests as to who you were as they enjoyed your music so much. You are a very talented group of musicians and can play such a range of music. It was truly fantastic and we had such a great time. I will recommend you to all of my friends. Thank you so very much.
laura L, Wedding, Shropshire
They were fabulous! We booked them for our wedding and we are so glad we did. Chris met up with us lots beforehand to discuss exactly what we wanted. They travelled and were extremely flexible to our needs and offered top-class advice. They looked and sounded the part and for what we got I think the price was very reasonable. We have had loads of brilliant comments from our guests and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
Susan M, Wedding, Cheshire
I have been to several weddings over the years and have seen many bands. Two months ago I was in the audience on Jools Hollands live music show and I can honestly say that the music I heard that night didn't come close to the sound of the 'Soul Soup' playing at a good friend's wedding. Anyone looking for a fantastic live jazz/soul band then I would strongly recommend them.
Inga C, Wedding, Shropshire
Dave and I just wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you to both you and your band for what we can only describe as a truly fantastic evening, with amazing and actually, quite brilliant music. You created exactly the atmosphere we wanted and it was such a shame when midnight arrived and the music had to stop! We have had endless compliments about the band and are now frantically trying to find an excuse for hiring you again - any ideas?! We would recommend you to anyone - and have already recommended you to many people.....
Dave T, Wedding, Cheshire
Soul Soup played at our wedding in September and they were BRILLIANT! Their music and extremely talented vocalist gave us a truly fantastic evening, with amazing and actually, quite brilliant music. They created exactly the atmosphere we wanted.
Jon H, Wddding, Shropshire
We hired Soul Soup for our wedding and they were absolutely brilliant. They are an extremely talented band and really need to be heard to be believed. They belted out a full range of hits from Jazz to Motown to Modern day classics and had all of our guests up and dancing in no time. They set the tone for a fantastic evening and knew just what songs to play to keep everyone up on the dancefloor. I (along with all our guests) would recommend Soul Soup to anybody looking for a band to take your reception/party to the next level!
Helen H, Wedding, Cheshire
Soul Soup played at our wedding and were fantastic! Not only did they have very little notice, they were helpful and went out of their way to accommodate our requirements. On the night, they were professional - arrived on time, set up without any fuss and started playing really great music! All my guests loved their style - some even made song requests. The guys were very friendly and enthusiastic - and VERY talented. I would recommend them wholeheartedly.
What will we need to supply?
As we rely on electrical equipment, a power supply is essential - other than that we are self contained. We own all of our equipment including PA and Lights. The band may require soft drinks throughout the performance, and food if a long journey is involved, to keep energy levels up!
How long do you play for?
We usually play two 45 minute sets over a two-hour period. We can play longer sets if required, just let us know.
Do you play recorded music during your breaks?
Yes, we can play music from a CD, iPod, or Laptop. If you prefer you can provide your own music!
Can you play our first dance?
Yes, this is completely possible – please get in touch for advice on song choice.
Can we use your equipment for the speeches?
Yes of course. Complimentary.
What happens when the band finishes? Do you offer a DJ?
We offer both DJs and ‘DIY DJs’. Leave it to us, or you can bring an MP3 player with your favourite music on and leave it running for the remainder of the evening. Musicians will need to pack down and head home.
Can you play at our wedding ceremony / drinks reception / dinner as well as providing music for the evening?
Yes, this is something we do regularly. Please get in touch with your requirements. You may prefer to have a smaller combo earlier in the day (i.e. a duo or jazz quartet) and have the rest of the band arrive in the evening.
How much space do you need?
This obviously depends on the size of the group you choose, but is probably less than you think. We are adept at fitting into unusual spaces! Our Septet require approximately 5m x4m. We can also play outside, but will need to be under cover in case of rain as our equipment is easily damaged.
How long do you take to set up?
It usually takes us around 40 minutes to set up, and we aim to arrive an hour before the performance. We can, however, arrive earlier if required.
Do you have Public Liabiliy Insurance?
Yes. Our equipment is PAT tested also.
Can we come and see you live?
Nearly all of our gigs are weddings and private functions, so unfortunately this is not usually possible.
Have Soul Soup ever had to cancel?
No. If one of the band members are taken ill, we have plenty of backup musicians available.
