Formed in 1988 from the string principals of the Scarborough Spa Orchestra, The Hyde Park String Quartet has become one of the most sought-after quartets in Britain.

The quartet's diverse range of repertoire, allied to a dynamic style of performance, captures and enthuses audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

The members are all conservatoire-trained professional full-time symphony musicians whose varied careers reflect the diversity of the repertoire, working for major professional orchestras, session work (pop as well as classical), West End Shows and in television.

Hello Matt, Thank you for arranging The Hyde Park String Quartet to play at my wife's 50th birthday garden party last Saturday. Everything went very smoothly and the music fitted perfectly into the occasion. Please pass on my thanks to the artists, and we wish them and yourselves every success for the future.

The quartet has provided music for functions in venues including Althorp, Claridges, the London Ritz, Highclere Castle and Pinewood Studios where guest lists have included the Princess Royal, Cleo Laine, Lord Sainsbury, Pavarotti, Bob Geldof, Keith Richards, Steve Redgrave, David Gower and Boy George. The UK premiere of the Hollywood movie The Royal Tenenbaums, the re-launches of O2 and Audos, the corporate event organisers, as well as the magazine Men’s Health’s search for a new cover model all saw The Hyde Park String Quartet providing the music.

Alongside its concert work, The Hyde Park String Quartet has a foothold in every other field of entertainment.

They perform for corporate events, weddings and other private functions, playing in hotels, Banqueting and Livery halls, homes stately and not so stately, and have made several TV appearances. In 1995, Des O'Connor invited them to perform on his Central Television network peak-time show Pot of Gold.

At the 2003 opening of Andrew Lloyd Webber's collection of Pre-Raphaelites at the Royal Academy of Arts, the BBC Arts Correspondent, Rosie Millard, was so taken with The Hyde Park String Quartet that she began her 10 o' clock News report with their performance of Stairway to Heaven. Caribbean and P & O chose The Hyde Park String Quartet as opening entertainment at the launch, in the presence of the Princess Royal, of their flagship Adonia, as well as entertaining guests at a charity ball aboard the Aurora and a subsequent Caribbean cruise aboard the Arcadia.

As Britain’s first and foremost ‘crossover’ string quartet, The Hyde Park String Quartet is the String Quartet with its own distinctive style. As well as playing music of the great composers, it has a unique library of sparkling arrangements of all kinds of popular music from Monteverdi to Madonna.

The idea of this classical line-up playing modern tunes delights audiences of all ages and walks of life. As a result, the schedule now embraces concerts, all kinds of function (The Hyde Park String Quartet has performed at over 1,350 weddings in their 34-year history), plus entertaining in hotels, restaurants and cruiseliners.

The Hyde Park String Quartet's standard fee incorporates 3 sets of 50 minutes in a 3-hour period.
