1st Violin: Litsa
Litsa studied the violin at the Royal Northern College of Music for 7 years. She went on to do a PGCE and currently teaches the violin and piano to budding amateurs of all ages and abilities across Greater Manchester. Litsa specialises in Greek music and plays in a Greek/ Jazz band. She has lead and continues to lead a variety of orchestras, quartets and trios across the North West.
2nd Violin: Andrew
Andrew studied violin at the Royal Northern College of Music and went on to do a PGCE to become a music teacher. He is currently Head of Music at Xaverian College in Manchester, plays and teaches violin and viola, and is a conductor. Andrew also has a specialism in Greek music and plays in a Greek/ Jazz band. In his spare time, he leads various ensembles across the North West and is a semi-professional footballer.
Viola: Rachel
Rachel studied viola at the Royal Northern College of Music and is now doing a postgraduate course including specialist strings teaching. In addition to the viola, she plays the double bass, violin and piano, and is learning to play the mandolin so as to broaden and enrich her ensemble playing.
Cello and Quartet Manager: Julia
Julia studied Modern Languages at Oxford University, where she played her ’cello in a range of orchestras and ensembles. She managed and played in a string quartet that performed across Oxfordshire, and set up The North West String Quartet on moving back up north. Julia also plays the piano and has written music for a range of instruments and ensembles.

The North West String Quartet has played at numerous venues across the North West encompassing Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire and Cumbria, as well as further afield such as Derbyshire and Shropshire.
The quartet has played in all kinds of venues including hotel suites and sport stadia, conference rooms and castles, marquees and shopping malls, religious buildings, ball rooms, bars and restaurants.
Whatever the setting – rural or urban, cosy or majestic, inside or outside (weather permitting!) – they will create the perfect musical backdrop for your special day.
