What Types Of Events Are Live Bands Suitable For?

There is no doubt that we love live music in the UK. We love watching it, listening to it, and supporting it. So, it’s no surprise that when it comes to the Great British public arranging their own social gatherings and private events, they book the heck out of it!

For example, take weddings… a beautiful sounding string quartet or harpist will create a fantastic ambiance to really put the nerves at ease of the happy couple and set the scene for the waiting guests. In addition, a fantastic live wedding band in the evening will be interactive and create a focal point for everyone to really get in the party mood and tear up the dance floor.

And, for those who really love live music, it is also often found at wedding drinks receptions in the form of a jazz band or an acoustic wedding singer!

And, this is before we even think about the music and function bands that are hired for corporate events, birthday parties, anniversaries, christenings, military events, university balls, and even funerals… there is no doubt that the UK loves the addition of live music to help celebrate milestones.

We can provide bands for simply any occasion and as the leading entertainment agency in the UK, we are happy to advise and suggest bands for hire based on your specific event date.

How Long Do Party Bands Perform For?

Whether you are hiring a wedding band or a standard party band for your event, the majority of party bands will provide 2 x 60-minute sets of live music.

Some choose to spread these performances out into 3 sets of 40 minutes each. Our bands for hire are flexible and can alter their performance times to fit with your event.

Usually, the timings for party bands and wedding bands are as follows.

  • Band arrival - 6pm
  • Set up and sound check - 7:30 to 8pm
  • First live set - 9pm
  • Second live set - 10:30pm

Midnight is often the standard curfew time for corporate events, weddings and private parties. However, many bands can offer longer performances at an additional fee that can include finishing as late as 1am or 2am. Different act types such as DJ and Sax wedding duos will perform set types of a different length so get in touch for more information.

Between providing live wedding music, our bands for hire will also provide background music in between sets and keep dance floors full with DJ sets!

How Long Does A Live Band Take To Set Up?

When hiring party bands for corporate events or weddings, it is wise to allocate around 60-90 minutes for the band to unload their gear, set up, and sound check.

This time can be increased depending on things like venue access and parking.

If you are aware that anything may potentially lengthen the time your function band has to set up properly, let them know well in advance of your event date.

How Long Before My Event Should I Book A Band?

The best bands for hire in the UK are usually booked up between 12 and 16 months ahead of an event date.

Some of our most popular party bands and wedding bands are even booked up 2 or 3 years in advance!

As soon as you know your event location and date, don't hang around.

Whilst it is a good idea to read reviews of party bands and watch videos of various function bands for hire to ultimately come to a decision, waiting too long can leave you disappointed as someone else snatches them up.

Whilst these popular cover bands wish they could clone themselves, they can only perform in one location a night!

Our advice is simple, The second you fall in love with your potential live band, get in touch and find out if they are available.
