Jenny & Andy’s Country River Cabin Wedding with The Gobots

Bride and Groom

Jenny and Andy booked The Gobots as their evening wedding band at their log cabin wedding and have kindly shared their highlights along with great planning tips and advice for other couples.

What was your best single moment of the whole day?

It’s hard to pick a single best moment as the whole day was so much fun! Being able to look around the room and see all our friends and family in one place with huge smiles on their faces was definitely a highlight and something that’s unique to a wedding.

Why did you pick your venue?

I’m from the North East, Andy’s from the North West and we live in London, so we had a huge search area. When we went to visit Hidden River Cabins we knew immediately it was for us. The setting was beautiful, five log cabins with hot hubs in five fields and a river running past them all. There was a huge amount of space and the chance for everyone to stay for the whole weekend. The staff were great too, we had the flexibility to do whatever we wanted to make the day perfect for us.

Hidden River Cabins

Did you have a specific style or theme for your big day?

We noticed when we visited the venue that there was lavender growing outside the room we were going to get married in, so the colour theme and flowers started there. For the rest of the day we just wanted to make sure everyone had a great time, so we kept things informal and fun.

Wedding Decor

How did you hear about the act?

We found The Gobots on the Warble website. We watched loads of videos on the site and the Gobots were just what we were looking for, fun, entertaining and with a great set list. We also booked Alistair Plays Sax for our day time drinks reception after watching his video on Warble. We didn’t tell anyone about the sax before the day, so it was great to see their faces when he started playing.

Bride and Groom Dance Floor

What did they bring to your day?

After Alistair got everyone in the party mood at the reception The Gobots got them dancing! From start to finish the dance floor was full (5 hours straight!) Nobody wanted them to leave at the end of the night.

Wedding Guests on the Dance Floor

Did you have a first dance song and what was it?

We had Ed Sheeran, Thinking Out Loud which The Gobots transitioned into Shape of You – something a bit more upbeat as we invited people to join us on the dance floor.

Bride and Groom First Dance

Where did you draw inspiration or find suppliers for your wedding?

Pinterest, plus lots of ideas from friends and family, I’m good at the organisational side of things but not very creative so ideas were very welcome. Andy’s brother did all our design and his mum and cousin Katie made our amazing cake, so it was lovely to have some personal touches too.

What did you think of the service provided by Warble?

Excellent, the booking process was straightforward, minimal effort (which is ideal when you have so many things to think about) and the communication was great.

Bride and Groom Dancing

Best piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding?

Don’t focus too much on the small details, people remember the venue, the band & the food.

And, enter competitions! I won a £500 Not on the High Street voucher earlier this year which came in very handy.

Wedding Food

Looking back is there anything you would change?

Nothing!
