Tong and Andrew booked The Rockets as their evening wedding band for their vintage rustic wedding at Tudor Barn in Eltham and have kindly shared their highlights along with great planning tips and advice for other couples.
What was your best single moment of the whole day?
I think all moments were wonderful and we enjoyed the whole day from start to finish!
Why did you pick your venue?
We went to see many beautiful venues, at the end we chose St Alfege church in Greenwich and Tudor Barn in Eltham as both are amazing and quite local to us. We were glad about our choices as we had to travel back and forth a number of times to attend services and meetings. It was also really great to see both venues several times as then we got a good idea of what we could do with them.
Did you have a specific style or theme for your big day?
Rustic theme goes quite well with the style of Tudor Barn, so that what we went with. Andy and I also share the love of vintage and collectables, so we agreed to incorporate a few things that we collected over the years into our wedding.
How did you hear about the act?
I did some researches online and came across Warble. We love that it was easy to filter and choose the type of bands we like. We had guests from all age group, so we wanted the band who plays songs that appeal to everyone. Also, at the time we had already chosen a song for our first dance song, so we wanted a band who knows it. When we listened to the Rockets’ demo and their song lists we knew straight away that they are the band for us.

What did they bring to your day?
The Rockets were fantastic from the moment they set up till the end of the night. All guests enjoyed the music even my parents (never in my life, seen them dance before!) decided to join the dance floor!
Did you have a first dance song and what was it?
We had “Thinking out loud” by Ed Sheeran. We had a couple of dance lesson at home beforehand. The dance instructor designed an adaptable choreography for us which we found really helpful.
Where did you draw inspiration or find suppliers for your wedding?
I have Pinterest boards to gather ideas. I separated the boards into different categories such as dresses, hair and makeup, cakes etc., so it’s easier to show or send to the suppliers. I looked through wedding photos that I like on different blogs then checked out photographer’s portfolio that when we found Naomi, our photographer. Other than Naomi we used most local suppliers as they know the venues and area well.
What did you think of the service provided by Warble?
Everyone at Warble had been wonderful. The layout of the website is great and the whole booking process was very easy and straight forward.
Best piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding?
Be flexible, there might be some flowers that you like but it’s out of the season or there might be a dress that you want but it’s way too much for the budget. Work with what you have and if you’re stuck for ideas ask your suppliers as they’ve done several weddings, so they normally have pretty good ideas. The most important thing on the big day is to enjoy yourself. You can’t plan every single thing even if you tried. There’re were a few minor things that didn’t go the way we planned but we’re glad it didn’t as we have something to laugh and tell people about.
Looking back is there anything you would change?
None. We were very lucky to have all great suppliers. As I really wanted our dogs to be part of our day so much, Ray from Petpals and his wife had gone out of their way to taking our dogs to the groomer and took them to meet us the reception venue and dropped them off at home afterwards. Mikala our event manager at Tudor Barn is a pro and she made sure that everything ran smoothly. All guests enjoyed themselves and they’ve been saying it’s one of the most relaxing and chilled out wedding they’ve been to!
