A Christmas Romance – Priya and Dave’s Big Day With Renegades Of Rock

Bride and Groom Sparklers

Priya and Dave booked Renegades Of Rock as their evening wedding band for their romantic Christmas themed wedding at The Great Tythe Barn and have kindly shared their highlights along with great planning tips and advice for other couples.

What was your best single moment of the whole day?

For both of us it was just after the ceremony – we walked back down the aisle with our saxophonist playing in the background. We were then handed a glass of mulled wine and went into what was essentially a cloakroom whilst the guests went outside with confetti. It was nice just to have that first moment alone together, and a bonus that we didn’t spill any wine down the white dress.

Why did you pick your venue?

We live in Bristol and lots of Priya’s family are based in Swindon, so we knew we wanted something semi-close to these areas. It was really early days for us looking at venues but as soon as we arrived at the Great Tythe Barn we loved it! The look and feel of the place were just what we wanted and even though we first saw it in the summer, we instantly could imagine how festive it would look at Christmas time. Rebecca, our event manager at the barn, was really friendly and helpful when we first met her, and this reassured us that we wouldn’t have to worry about anything in the lead up to the wedding or on the day itself. Needless to say, it was love at first sight, and we booked it the same day.

The Great Tythe Barn

Did you have a specific style or theme for your big day?

Not really… if we had to pick, it would probably be a bit Christmassy, a bit Indian, a bit countryside-y, a bit homemade, and as many fairy lights and candles as could realistically fit in one place.

Wedding Decor

How did you hear about the act?

We had spent quite a long time trawling though the internet trying to find a band that all our guests would get up and dance to. Then through the power of Google, we came across Warble and found Renegades of Rock. A listen to a McFly cover and a few emails later, they were all booked!

Wedding Band Dance Floor

What did they bring to your day?

Lots of fun! The dance floor was packed the whole evening and both Dave and I spent most of our time dancing the night away! Loads of our guests have since commented on how good the band were, and we definitely wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone in the future.

Bride and Groom Dancing

Did you have a first dance song and what was it?

Yes, our first dance (or should I say first awkward shuffle!) was ‘There Will Be Time’ by Mumford and Sons. We had heard the song shortly after we got engaged and it just seemed to fit! We actually played the first dance song from an iPod but the transition from that to the band was seamless and got everyone on the dance floor within seconds of the first dance finishing.

Where did you draw inspiration or find suppliers for your wedding?

Pinterest and Instagram were the main culprits as well as blogs like Rock My Wedding and Boho Weddings. Apart from these, following some of suppliers, e.g., florist, photographer, venue on Facebook and Instagram gave us lots of really useable ideas and 2017 was an insanely busy year of attending other people’s weddings (I think we had attended 8 other weddings that year!) so our friends and family were probably the one of biggest forms of inspiration for our wedding.

Wedding Decor

What did you think of the service provided by Warble?

All good. We had no issues at all in planning, communication or payment and didn’t have to worry about a thing which was a massive relief in the final run up to the wedding.

Dance Floor

Best piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding?

Take advantage of people’s offers of help, especially if you are doing lots of D.I.Y stuff. Don’t sweat the small stuff, it might seem essential at the time, but honestly you probably won’t even notice the little things on the day. And most importantly, enjoy it – everyone says it, but it honestly does go so quickly!

Bride and Groom Dancing

Looking back is there anything you would change?

Nope. That’s not to say everything went exactly to plan but we wouldn’t change a thing! Although we do both wish we’d left the dance floor enough to have some evening food and make more use of the photo booth.
