Chris & Caroline’s Festival Themed Wedding with The Gobots

Wedding VW van

Chris & Caroline’s wedding with The Gobots fills us with joy. Every part of their day is so welcoming and looks like so much fun!

The couple planned their festival themed wedding day from Australia and we’re super impressed with how they’ve pulled everything together from overseas.

We caught up with them to find out more about the inspiration behind their wedding and some highlights of their special day…

What was your best single moment of the whole day?

This is a difficult question to answer because there was so much going on throughout the day! It was fun-filled and because we had planned it all ourselves to every teeny tiny detail (with the much needed help of the mother and father of the Groom). We loved every minute of it, knowing all the hard work had paid off for us.

We would probably have to say the vibe was our favourite part of the day as everyone could be seen having a brilliant time.

Why did you pick your venue?

We chose Southport Town Hall for our ceremony because we wanted a quick, simple ceremony. The Town Hall is a beautiful grand building with the most amazing staircase. Plus, we were then close by to the gorgeous Botanic gardens for our portrait photographs.

We had the reception at Tarleton Rugby Club; the Groom had played rugby for Tarleton since he was 6 years old. The main reason we chose it was because of the space. There were no restrictions to the number of guests we could invite, as you would expect to have if booking through a hotel. Also, Chris and I first met at this rugby club. This is where he got down on one knee at our leaving do before we emigrated to Australia, so it made sense to have the wedding here! It was also the perfect venue to pull off the theme for our wedding.

Did you have a specific style or theme for your big day?

Chris and I LOVE festivals, so it was very fitting to our personalities that we had a festival themed wedding. We had bell tents, a camping area, ‘chill-out’ zone, a fire pit, a band, a DJ, an acrobat show, a magician, the list is endless.

We wanted it to be a big party with the people we love the most. Seeing as we have lived in Australia since 2016, we wanted to make sure we spent the most important day of our lives with those that mean the world to us.

How did you hear about The Gobots?

We found The Gobots on the Warble Entertainment website through a Google search. Finding a band that is going to fit in well with the tastes of the crowd is pretty daunting. We didn’t want something too cheesy, which most bands we looked at seemed to be!

What did they bring to your day?

Before the event, the lads sent a list of songs that they could perform for us on the day. The list was pretty extensive and had a variety of different genres from different eras.

They got the crowd dancing and were true performers. I just regret not being on the dancefloor more during their set (the sun was shining and it is easy to get caught up talking to everybody). I did manage to catch them as they were packing away and grabbing a bite to eat and they really are a down to earth and lovely bunch of lads.

Did you have a first dance song and what was it?

We had our first dance in the interval between sets and we chose Lionel Ritchie and Diana Ross – Endless Love.

Where did you draw inspiration or find suppliers for your wedding?

We based our decision a lot of the time on Google reviews. As we were planning it from Australia, we were unable to meet with suppliers, so Google and personal recommendations were the only way we could do it.

Our caterer and florist were booked through recommendations and they were local to where we used to live. We are great believers in supporting local businesses, hence why all of our suppliers were from the North West of England. The DJ was a friend of ours and Caroline had been to two of her friend’s weddings where she had seen the way the videographer worked first hand.

What did you think of the service provided by Warble?

Warble were very supportive and helpful. If I had a query, they would respond to my emails in no time at all given the time difference.

It is clear they look after their staff, as the band couldn’t praise Warble enough on the marketing they do for them. I would definitely use Warble again if we were to throw another party!

Best piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding?

Embrace every moment of planning this magical day together. Begin planning early (spreadsheets are a saviour).

On the day, I cannot stress enough how important it is for the two of you to take time out together. Just walk away and have 10-15 minutes; just the two of you to soak up the atmosphere, as the day really does fly by far too quickly!

Looking back is there anything you would change?

In all honesty, we cannot think of a single thing we would change. The day turned out exactly how we wanted it – even the weather was on our side! If we could change it so the day lasted longer, we could spend more time with everyone. That would be our only wish.

Who were your favourite suppliers from the day?

The Village Belles – Bell Tent Accommodation (Katie & Sam)

The Flower Farm Florist

The Dollz by Samantha Mercer – Make up and hair based in Southport

David Murray – Photographer based in Formby

H2 Photography and Film – Videographer based in Poulton-Le-Fylde (Chris Higgins)

The Gobots – Wedding Band

CM Entertainment – (Carl Matthews the DJ, photobooth & candycart)

Scoop Magic – Magician
