Christmas time at Warble always means being involved in some big and exciting events and this year will be no different.
We have some fantastic events lined up including 80s events, acoustic sessions with the fabulous Orchard Studios and we’ve had a host of Christmas light switch-ons to help with. This year we also had the privilege of providing entertainment for our very own Crewe Christmas Light Switch On! Jennie and Jon went along to see all of the Christmassy magic and entertainment first hand.
Firstly, a big virtual applause needs to go to the wonderfully talented Tom Seals a local singer who performed some well known Christmas songs and Carols to get the celebrations off to a really great start. Included in the festivities the childerbeasts got the chance to meet Santa Claus, and when he got up on stage to say hello, everyone went apoplectic with excitement (as you do…. he is Santa people). After he and the Grinch had some fisticuffs on stage involving pie the MC finally announced what we had all been waiting for KT – Perry, the country’s leading Katy Perry tribute was about to take to the stage. You could not hear the person next to you for kiddies screaming and she did not disappoint. Her costume and stage presence were executed to a T, blue hair and all.
Throughout performing all of Katy Perry’s biggest hits she then made a quick change into a truly authentic cupcake costume which had everyone applauding and cheering. At the end of the performance the Mayor of Crewe Cllr Irene Faseyi took to the stage with KT Perry and together they turned on the Christmas lights and the whole town was a-light (cue a very nice Christmassy feeling). KT Perry then began to sing ‘Firework’ as a finale to the event and just when the chorus started fireworks sprang up from the clock tower in the square, wonderfully coordinated to the music by the ever inventive ‘Blitz Fireworks‘.
The whole evening couldn’t have gone better thanks to the wonderful planning of Sue Togay and her team of Christmas helpers and Warble is very proud to say we were one of them. Thank you so much Cheshire East Council for letting us be involved, we are already looking forward to the next one!
