Where Does This Lead Go...

Warble Entertainment deal with incredibly talented musicians on a day to day basis and we are always looking for ways to show them off. Whether that’s showcase events, the power of social media or people seeing that talent first hand at any of the thousands of events we book for.

Thanks to a fantastic relationship with Cheshire based Orchard Studios, Warble have recently added another outlet to those opportunities with the Orchard Acoustic Sessions. The aim of these events is to bring Warble musicians and bands along to the studios in front of a small audience for a performance in an intimate environment. The sets are also filmed so that those who weren’t there to witness the shows can see performances from the event.

The first of these shows took place in late November with three acts taking part as part of the inaugural show. The first act was ‘Nick Sings‘ who has been with Warble for a couple of years now and used the sessions to showcase a wide variety of songs from ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ to ‘Price Tag’ and ‘The Joker’ to Daft Punk’s summer hit ‘Get Lucky’. Nick’s a very versatile act that can be utilised at almost any event.

Despite the word ‘Acoustic’ in the title, the showcases are about much more than just acoustic performances and next up was ‘Paul Matthews’ to add a touch of contemporary vintage. Paul is part of retro band ‘Black Cadillac’ and was a real talking point before he played a note with his ‘flat-pack’ set up in an encased tweed frame. Paul used layering/looping of his own instruments and voice to fantastic effect on songs like ‘Teardrop’, ‘All Along The Watchtower’ along with a Doo-Wop version of ‘White Christmas’. Unique and compelling to watch, Paul can make an overall sound that is just astounding to see live.

Closing the first session was ‘Helena Scott‘. Helena has been around the North West Jazz scene for several years now and, like Paul, opts for a retro-vintage feel. Helena opened the show with a version of KT Tunstall’s ‘Suddenly I See’. From the opening verse of the song, it’s clear for the audience to see that Helena has an amazing vocal talent. Through songs like ‘Tainted Love’ and 10cc’s ‘I’m not in Love’, Helena’s vocals are far reaching and easy on the ear… and a beautiful warm rendition of ‘Have Yourself a merry little Christmas’ to close was as perfect an end to the first Orchard Acoustic Sessions as we could ever wish for.

The showcases take place at Orchard Studios each month. There are a limited number of places for members of the public to come along and see these FREE events. Follow the events on the Warble Events Facebook page for upcoming shows or call us on 0845 643 9384 to reserve a place.
