Rebecca and David opted for a 1920’s themed day at Ashton Lodge<\/a> and they picked The Swingsetters<\/a> as their evening band. They’ve been in touch to tell us some of their highlights and helpful tips!<\/p>\n

What was your best single moment of the whole day?<\/h2>\n

David: When I saw Rebecca walking down the stairs in her dress, and then walking down the aisle together.<\/p>\n

Rebecca: Walking down the aisle with my husband and seeing all our family and friends there ready to celebrate with us.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Why did you pick your venue?<\/h2>\n

We felt that the venue suited our theme, and had lovely grounds to take pictures on the day. We also wanted an exclusive use venue and Ashton Lodge only does weddings, so they were able to cater to our exact needs. Hayley and Andrew were fab throughout and everything went without a hitch. You can tell they do over 40 weddings a year!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Did you have a specific style or theme for your big day?<\/h2>\n

Our theme was the 1920\u2019s or all round vintage theme, which was the basis of us choosing The Swingsetters. They really made our reception feel like a 1920\u2019s occasion.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

How did you hear about the act?<\/h2>\n

We were looking for swing\/jazz bands that played in Warwickshire, and came across Warble Entertainment. There were a few bands that we liked but The Swingsetters just had a broader catalogue and they fitted the style we were looking for.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What did they bring to your day?<\/h2>\n

They made our wedding unique. We didn\u2019t want to have a DJ for the whole evening and the band were great at creating the atmosphere we wanted. They played classic 1920\u2019s songs for the first set, and then modern songs with a twist for the second set. They made our evening fun and enjoyable for everybody.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Did you have a first dance song and what was it?<\/h2>\n

We chose \u2018Let\u2019s Stay Together\u2019 by Al Green. The band played it with just a piano and vocals, which was lovely. I think also they learnt it specifically for our first dance, which was really great. They wanted to make sure our\u00a0first dance was special.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Where did you draw inspiration or find suppliers for your wedding? (online, blogs, magazines etc \u2013 Did any in particular stand out and why?)<\/h2>\n

We went to a lot of wedding fairs throughout the planning process. We also used a simple wedding planner book from Paperchase and cut out pictures from magazine to put in to give inspiration at first. Once we\u2019d decided on the vintage theme it was easier to narrow down ideas. We used Pinterest a lot to see what was used in 1920\u2019s d\u00e9cor.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What did you think of the service provided by Warble?<\/h2>\n

Lucy was fantastic \u2013 we booked the band quite early on and she was always on hand to answer any questions we had about timings or set up. We also liaised directly with the band nearer the time, and Lucy put us in touch with them well in advance.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Best piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding?<\/h2>\n

If something is important to you (flowers\/music etc) plan it well in advance. Take time to select companies and suppliers that will work with you to create your perfect day. Don\u2019t be afraid to change your mind or ask for something different further down the line, as plans do change and your suppliers should be happy to help you.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Looking back is there anything you would change?<\/h2>\n

For us the one thing we would change would be to serve our evening buffet a little later. We had ours at 8.30pm, when we only had the wedding breakfast at 4pm, so our guests were not really hungry. We would have had it more like 9.30-10pm when the munchies started to kick in!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Name your favourite suppliers from the day: (as many as you like)<\/h2>\n

We had (in our opinion) some of the best suppliers, we loved them all!<\/p>\n

Portfolio events<\/a> \u2013 provided canap\u00e9s, 3 courses wedding breakfast and evening buffet of cheese and cold meats.<\/p>\n

Flower Thyme<\/a> \u2013 created stunning arrangements for top table, stairs, candelabras, as well as bouquets and corsages.<\/p>\n

Grooms on Time \u2013 provided a vintage Jaguar for the groom and best man to the ceremony.<\/p>\n

Mode Bridal <\/a>\u2013 did my hair, bridesmaids and my mum\u2019s hair on the day.<\/p>\n

Chloe Parasmo Make Up<\/a> \u2013 did my make up on the day.<\/p>\n

Finesse Entertainment <\/a>\u2013 provided an excellent DJ, photobooth and casino table for our reception.<\/p>\n

Spring and Pemberton \u2013 provided brilliant background music for our wedding breakfast. We had so many compliments on his music, both on the day and afterwards. Aside from the Swingsetters, he also set our day apart from everybody else\u2019s. – springandpemberton@hotmail.com<\/p>\n

The White Boutique<\/a> \u2013 the brides favourite supplier, cannot say enough good things about this wedding dress boutique, they are so friendly, lovely yet professional ladies and so knowledgeable. They made the whole process so enjoyable.<\/p>\n

The Seamstresses <\/a>\u2013 working with the White Boutque, Selina and her team altered my dress to perfection as well as fitting in all my bridesmaid even though two of them live overseas.<\/p>\n

Bea\u2019s Bridal<\/a> \u2013 provided us with bridesmaids and flower girl dresses, my veil, and the men\u2019s ties and pockets.<\/p>\n

Salters Rugby <\/a>\u2013 provided the men\u2019s suits and fitted them the week before due to some living overseas.<\/p>\n
