A saxophonist provides ‘something different’

Whilst most people will have seen saxophonists performing on TV or at concerts they may never have seen one at close quarters. And to be honest, it is pretty special. Wedding band hire is pretty common in the UK, but a sax is a great looking instrument and sounds fantastic too. Hiring a saxophonist will also give a focal point for your event and so will provide a real treat for the senses along with adding a glamorous touch of live music that is unique.

Small space? No problem!

A saxophone may be played acoustically or via a small PA or speaker system and so requires a very little amount of space. Our saxophone players can squeeze into the tightest of spaces, next to a DJ or can even roam around a mix and mingle with your guests on the dance floor!

Smaller budget? Still not a problem!

A saxophone can create a big sound on its own and so when booked as a solo instrument means prices can start from as low as £200! This means you can hire a saxophone player and add a special live music touch to your event without having to blow the budget.

Something for everyone? You bet!

The saxophone is a melodic instrument with a great range and is suited to many styles of music. So, it's not unusual to find saxophone players with huge repertoires that cover lots of different genres. This means you can often choose from up to date contemporary pop and rock tunes, or, traditional jazz standards, Ibiza Chill, or even Soul and Motown! This makes the sax a particularly great music entertainment idea for weddings where there are usually mixed age groups to consider.

Hire A Saxophonist With A DJ

Want the slick sound of a saxophone but also want professionally mixed tracks and that club feel you find in Ibiza? You can get it whe you hire a DJ with live musician! This type of act is extremely popular with young crowds at weddings and for corporate events. Saxophonists improvise over house tracks and club classics to create a vibrant atmosphere that everyone will love! Often you can also hire bongos alongside a DJ and saxophonist for the ultimate party experience.

FAQs

How Much Are Your Saxophonists For Hire?

For a solo saxophonist prices range from around £450 - £900 depending on the musician's experience, popularity and how far they have to travel. For those with professional DJs the price will be higher.

What Type of Music Do Saxophonists Play?

Saxophone players are incredibly versatile with the type of music they play. During the day they'll offer a range of styles, from classic jazz standards to pop and rock classics to Ibiza Chill-style tracks. At night, choose from improvised club classics, massive house tracks or upbeat pop and rock party favourites. Check each saxophonist's repertoire for their specialism to help you choose the right one for your event.

How Long Do Saxophone Players Play For?

The length of time a saxophone player is on stage varies depending on the time of day they perform, whether they are required to improvise and the style of music they play. Generally you can expect at least 2x 45-minute sets but some live saxophonists perform for longer.

Do I Need To Hire A DJ For When My Saxophonist is Offstage?

If you're hiring a saxophonist who performs with backing tracks they will usually provide a playlist of songs to play during the break between sets so there's no need to hire a separate DJ. Many saxophonists play alongside a pro-DJ as the main part of their act. In this instance the DJ usually keeps performing while the saxophonist is taking a breather. A few acts are happy to perform alongside a resident DJ but do not provide music of their own so it's really important to clarify this before hiring a saxophone player.

How Far In Advance Do I Need To Hire A Saxophone Player?

Saxophonists are becoming incresaingly popular as wedding and event entertainment and are often booked over a year in advance. Our advice when it comes to hiring a saxophone player is to book as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.

Will A Saxophone Player Learn Our First Dance?

Most saxophonists are more than happy to learn and perform a unique rendition of your first dance song for free! Having your first dance song performed live enhances this intimate moment and makes it extra special. As with any type of act, it's always best to check with your adviser that your chosen saxophonist offers this service. While a few don't, others will offer to learn more than one song so it's always a bonus when they do!

How Long Does The Sound Check Take?

The sound check for a solo saxophonist usually takes around half an hour or less. The musicians are extremely discreet and you'll barely notice they're there!

Do I Need To Hire A PA System?

There's no need to source any technical equipment at all when you hire a saxophonist. They'll bring their own PAT tested equipment with them.
