They have now decided to put their musical minds together and bring a fresh approach to acoustic music through The Free Hands.

Rick is a keen singer-songwriter and hosts his own monthly music evening in Islington, where his passion for music continues through showcasing new artists. Which line-up should I choose?

With double bass and percussion also available to add further depth and warmth to the music, it can be hard to know which line-up will be right for you. The good news is that all the line-ups can play with varying volume and energy making each very versatile and suitable for a range of events. As a general guide, the duo can provide a perfect accompaniment to a drinks reception or quieter moments at your event such as during the wedding breakfast or private party. They can also put a little more energy into their sets, and get your event off to a great start.

A trio with the addition of double bass brings added warmth to the music. This trio is a great choice for more sophisticated events that require a touch of class. Perfect for relaxed events and special occasions.

The option of an acoustic trio with percussion makes a significant change from the standard duo. The addition of a beat brings a much livelier sound - it’s that simple. Adding a percussionist creates more energy at any event and will often draw people to the dance floor.

The acoustic quartet is created through adding a double bassist and percussionist to the duo. With a friendly ‘Mumford and Sons’ vibe throughout, this is the perfect line-up for any event with a feel-good vibe. Whether you’re planning a wedding, barn party or corporate event, the Free Hands acoustic quartet can provide the perfect soundtrack, bring people to the dance-floor and create a warm feel good vibe for your guests.

The Free Hands were truly excellent. They had everybody dancing and enjoying themselves and lots of people commented on how good they were. I would highly recommend them. Tom was also really helpful before the wedding when organising. A big thank you from all of us.

They were excellent. Very sociable and eager to please; their playing and repertoire was an extremely pleasant backdrop to our daughter's wedding breakfast. We would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone for a wedding reception, or any other gathering... professional and well-delivered acoustic music.

What do you wear on stage?
Don't worry: there's no leopard-skin trousers. The Free Hands are a smart, stylish band who wear (ironed) shirts, jeans and the occasional skinny tie. For more formal events, such as weddings and corporate dos, they're not adverse to donning suits, either.

Can you supply a PA?
Yes, the band have their own high-quality PA, which is powerful enough to fill any sizeable venue.

How long do you take to set up?
The Free Hands take 30 minutes to set up, but will turn up 60 minutes beforehand – just to be safe.

How much space do you require?
Not much at all – 3 x 3 metres is more than enough.

How many power sockets do you need?
Just the one.

Will you play our first dance?
The band will be more than happy to play your first dance on two conditions: 1) You give them 28 days' notice 2) It's not Bohemian Rhapsody.
