Placed perfectly in that merry gap between Christmas and New Year, Alex & Lucy’s wedding with The Indie Killers at the stunning venue of Shustoke Barn was always set to be an amazing day. Filled with fun, dancing and unforgettable wintery moments captured fantastically by Gareth Newstead Photography, Alex & Lucy share their thoughts about their wedding day with us…
What was your best single moment of the whole day?
The favourite part of our wedding was our ceremony. It felt so personal and relaxed like it was only us there. We also loved our band, it really made our wedding and our guests for weeks after were talking about how awesome they were! We hardly left the dance floor all night. They were fantastic and rocked our wedding!
Why did you pick your venue?
We fell in love with our venue as soon as we went to visit it for the first time. We loved the relaxed, rustic theme and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. We could picture ourselves and our guests there, celebrating together. The staff were fantastic from the moment we visited, throughout the planning process to the day itself. Nothing was too much trouble.
Did you have a specific style or theme for your big day?
Our theme was relaxed and rustic to fit the venue. We had a colour pallet of blush pink, burgundy and copper.
How did you hear about the act?
We knew we wanted a band for our evening reception. We both have a passion for music and love going to gigs and seeing bands perform. We also live in Manchester and have grown up listening to bands like Oasis and the Courteeners, so were keen to book an “indie band”. Having searched on the internet for this style of band, we came across The Indie Killers, fell in love with them straight away and booked them immediately! They did not disappoint!
What did they bring to your day?
The band were amazing! They were in contact just before our wedding to discuss the set and any key songs we wanted to be included. This made their set personal to us and our guests which was fantastic!
They are true professionals who know what works best for a wedding crowd, we put our trust in them and they did not let us down! They played an amazing set and interacted with the crowd. We could not have asked any more from them. They gave so much energy and we were still talking about their set for weeks after! It completely made our wedding, we can’t thank them enough.
Did you have a first dance song and what was it?
Our first dance was the You & Me Song by The Wannadies. We didn’t want a slow dance and this was a nice balance of a slow dance and an upbeat tempo song to party with our friends and family. The band played our first dance and they were phenomenal!
Where did you draw inspiration or find suppliers for your wedding?
We used Pinterest and Instagram for inspiration for our wedding. We also used Rock My Wedding for specific inspiration for our venue, which was really useful as we could see how others had styled the venue.
What did you think of the service provided by Warble?
Warble Entertainment were great. They were in contact at key points to help us keep up to date and on track with our booking. They were always there to help if needed along the way.
Best piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding?
Best piece of advice for couples planning their wedding would be to not make compromises. Plan the day for yourselves and make sure it says something about you both as a couple. We were so glad we didn’t compromise because we had the best day of our lives!!
Looking back is there anything you would change?
Looking back there isn’t anything we would change. The day ran smoothly, we had all our favourite people with us and had the day we wanted. We couldn’t have asked for a better day! It surpassed all our expectations!
