Jennifer and Dave’s English Countryside Wedding with The Wolves

Jennifer and Dave booked The Wolves for their beautiful English Countryside wedding at the Crepe Farmhouse in Symondsbury and have kindly shared some insights from their big day.

‘They understood exactly what it was that we wanted, judged the ‘audience’ perfectly and quite simply  made all of our guests dance their feet off!’

What was your best single moment of the whole day?

It may sound incredibly predictable but, in all honesty, entering the Church and seeing Dave with the biggest smile on his face and his bright green eyes looking directly at me was by far the best part of the whole day. I absolutely love that memory! It is one that I will treasure for the rest of my life. All girls love that ‘first look’ photo and I can safely say that I was absolutely blown away when I saw Dave standing there, smiling… AT ME… I still can’t believe my luck.

Why did you pick your venue?

Dave and I picked the Crepe Farmhouse in Symondsbury, Dorset because we wanted a traditional English countryside wedding reception complete with a hearty BBQ. We liked the idea of having the reception in our ‘back garden’ as we felt this would help create a relaxed garden party feel, whilst still being intimate and very pretty.

We hired the Crepe Farmhouse for the whole week before our wedding. This really enabled us to spend time with our family and friends. It was all hands on deck making and preparing the decorations for our Capri Tent  (although all  the hard work was rewarded with a glass of wine and a soak in the hot tub most evenings).

The Farmhouse itself is stunning. It is beautifully furnished to a really high spec. The garden was simply stunning; with very well thought out flowerbeds.  The surroundings were just perfect for what we wanted.

How did you hear about the band?

Full credit to Warble Entertainment for finding the band for us! I called and described our venue and the type of feel and atmosphere we were trying to create and Coral helpfully suggested a duo called The Wolves. I went away and listened to them on Warble’s website and read through their profile and thought that they sounded perfect! Warble quickly confirmed they were available and provided me with a quote. The whole planning and booking process was seamless and stressfree. Lois subsequently helped me amend the booking as we decided we wanted The Wolves to play an additional set. Again, this was easy peasy to do!

What did they bring to your day?

The Wolves were quite simply FANTASTIC! They provided us with an acoustic warm up set, helped us with our rather impromptu first dance, and then they really got the party going. I cannot stress how talented these guys are. I was a little anxious that a duo wouldn’t have enough ‘man-power’ to create a party atmosphere but boy did they prove me wrong! They understood exactly what it was that we wanted, judged the ‘audience’ perfectly and quite simply made all of our guests dance their feet off!  They also helped our videographer to choreograph our sparkler dance, which was amazing ( as shown in the video below) and brought tears to my eyes; hearing The Wolves beautifully sing Chasing Cars by Snowpatrol and seeing all our friends and family in a semi circle with their sparklers really was magical. I have since joined The Wolves’s mailing list as I am desperate to see them again. Not only are they two very talented musicians who I have no hesitations in recommending to anyone (wedding, birthday party.. anything)  but they are also two of the nicest gentlemen I have ever met! I  feel really honoured to have had them play at our wedding.  We would have no hesitations in paying double what we did for them- they really are worth every single penny!

An absolute must – BOOK THEM!

What was your first dance song?

We decided at the very last minute to do a first dance. The Wolves were amazing at quickly and discreetly helping chose a song. We happily settled for Ed Sheeran’s Thinking out Loud- it was perfect!

Where did you draw inspiration from or find suppliers for your wedding?

I had a good idea what kind of look and feel I wanted and luckily Dave was happy with what I had in mind.  I spent a ridiculous amount of time on Pinterest, which is where I got most of my ideas from. I then had the fun job of going shopping to buy it all!  Having an Amazon Prime account was really worth the money.

What did you think of the service provided by Warble?

The most helpful, straightforward entertainment company out there. I am so pleased I found Warble. Warble went above and beyond to help us find the perfect band for our wedding. The service provided was efficient, friendly and totally stressfree, and in the world of wedding planning this was a pleasant surprise.

When The Wolves were recommended to us, I honestly felt as though Warble really cared about making sure we were  happy with our decision, rather than just wanting to take our money. Warble made helpful suggestions in a non-sales-pushy way.  They really took the time to talk to me and understand what we were wanting from our wedding band. All of the phone calls and email correspondence were professional, friendly and easy to understand. Their contract was clear (no nasty surprises hidden in the small print)  and was also easy to understand.

Looking back is there anything you would change?

I wouldn’t change a thing! It was everything I had dreamed of.

Best piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding?

Write, in order of priority, a list of things that you consider make a good wedding:  Venue, food, music, photographer etc and get the best you can for your money.  Don’t get  bogged down with what other people think you should do. It is yours and your new husband/wife-to be’s day and you have to do what is right for you both.

Favourite Suppliers:

Our caters  Crab Apple Catering  were absolutely out of this world! From the outset they were incredible, and their food and service on the day was absolutely faultless.

Our photographer Georgina from Panache’ photography and our  videographer Miles from Cupcake videos were incredible. I feel so lucky to have booked both of these companies. They worked really well together and captured the day beautifully!

Taddle Farm tents supplied our Capri Marquee, flooring, table and chairs. They were so incredibly helpful and set everything up, and took it all down in a really efficient way whilst still being very respectful of the surroundings.

I also loved my make-up artist Samantha Davis-make-up. I felt so beautiful on the morning of our wedding, not overdone or heavy but just perfect! Having Samantha there was like having an extra friend with me. She also did my mum and bridesmaids’ make-up – they all looked beautiful.

I love flowers and having a English Countryside wedding it was really important to me that the flowers reflected this theme. Therefore, we decided to book Charlie, from the Real Cut Flower Garden in Dorset. Charlie grows all of the flowers herself in her back garden. They looked so stunning in the centre of our tables and every time I now smell nightsented stock I will be instantly transported back to the Church and hearing those words ‘ will you all stand for the bride’…. goosebumps!

Lighting was hired from Cinemattag. Dave set all the lighting up with his bestman the day before the wedding.  Dave found this company to be very professional, competitively priced and well stocked.

The delicious cakes on our cake table, which was just as popular as our gin table, were from Jessica’s Farm Cakes. I love this company and will be buying all my cakes from here from now on. We also hired a vintage icrecream tricycle from Amazing Day Icecreams. They served Marshfield icecream with a range of toppings, absolutely delicious.
