The Comedy Opera Show
Comedy Opera has been a huge hit with audiences in Australia and is now available to be booked in the UK. Written by the successful playwright & comedian Glynn Nicholas, the set up starts during pre-dinner drinks and the act weaves its magic throughout the crowd guaranteeing a hilarious night's entertainment. Original comedic songs and all the opera classics such as Libiamo and musical theatre hits including A million dreams, your guests will long to hear, The Comedy Opera Show provides the perfect blend of laughter plus the pure joy of spine-tingling singing.
During cocktails or entrée, two talented singers are mingling and dispensing raffle tickets to the guests. They politely chat, flirt and generally make themselves known to everyone at the event. Later, they take to the stage to announce the winner of the raffle. Distracted by the amount of gorgeous men and women in the audience, their cover is blown as they break into song which could only be described as delicious flirtation with the masses, combining witty lyrics with fabulous vocal prowess. This is followed with operatic arias, classical crossover favourites and musical theatre hits chosen to suit the occasion.
PLUS, the hilarious piece de resistance, a performance of Bizet's masterpiece, Carmen, performed in its entirety (less all the boring bits) in 15 minutes. The performance includes a 'volunteer' from the audience who is cast in the main role of Don Jose and takes centre stage with the performers to assist with the scenes from the opera, much to the amusement of the audience who by day know the volunteer as their CEO, birthday guest or manager!
If you are looking for funny entertainment, fantastic singing and a show that will captivate your audience and give a focal point for the evening then The Comedy Opera Show is the perfect choice for your formal event, conference or corporate gathering.
Raffle ticket section
Free raffle tickets are handed out at the start of the event. The performers pretend they have been invited to the event by the venue or client to hand out the free raffle tickets and in doing so mingle and chat with the guests who recognise them when they later take to the stage to announce the winners.
The performers take to the stage at the agreed time and start to draw the raffle. With the first prize being a trip for two to Seville in Spain, flying first class with Ryanair the audience quickly realise they are not just your ordinary raffle ticket volunteers.
The performers soon get distracted by all the good looking people in the audience and break into song as they float through the audience singing lines to unsuspecting guests
Two 'serious opera' duets are then performed and then it is back to the hilarity. To give the winner a taste of what is to come as they head off by themselves for their bus trip for one to Spain, the story of Carmen is performed, given it is set in Seville. The performers realise they need a Don Jose character and ‘randomly’ select a gentleman from the audience…oh, what a coincidence he is the CEO/Manager/Birthday Boy! Guided by a hilarious script the performers and their Don Jose act out scenes from the opera.
The finale is a beautiful rendition of Time to Say Goodbye, and to find out if the winner gets their prize, you will have to book the show!
The show includes three duets as well as an original song performed amongst the audience. The duet options include:
- The Drinking Song, La Traviata
- A Million Dreams, The Greatest Showman
- I Believe
- You Raise Me Up
- All I Ask Of You, Phantom of the Opera
- Time To Say Goodbye
Absolutely exquisite music and hilarious comedy. We were thrilled. So so happy we chose the comedy opera duo. Thank you for making our event a roaring success.
Excellent entertainment would recommend everyday of the week. Professional ladies and a most unusual act. Everyone at our party enjoyed them.I hope to have an opportunity to use them again.
The Comedy Opera Show were brilliant. We roughly knew what to expect from the online videos, but were blown away by their professionalism and interaction with us and our guests. It was the perfect end to a perfect day and we can not recommend them highly enough, thank you.
What an inspired decision for a great birthday party! Saira and Lawrence, two extremely accomplished opera singers, wowed my guests with their superb mixture of high comedy with truly wonderful singing. To have my nephew on stage playing the part of Don Jose in Carmen was a sight to behold - so funny! And what an end to the show - Their performance of "Time to say Goodbye" was, I have to say, superb. Such a great night!
Highly accomplished and very entertaining.
Well done! To keep 540 people captivated was brilliant. The girl's wit and singing prowess made our night the one that everyone is still raving about - what I am wondering is how did they manage to pick a "winner" that everyone seemed to relate to? This was real laugh out loud entertainment and I will certainly be recommending you for similar functions. Thanks again to Glynn and the Crew.
