FAQs

How Much Does It Cost To Hire A Folk Band?

The cost of hiring an acoustic folk band is around £1700 - £2400. The price you pay is based on a number of factors, including how far your band have to travel (transportation costs are included), the number of band members, the date of your wedding and their popularity and experience.

How Long Do Folk Bands Play For?

Folk bands will usually treat your guests to a full 2 hours of live music. This is split into either 2x 60-minute or 3x 40-minute sets depending on what suits your schedule best. Lots of bands will offer extra sets as an optional add-on and others will play until 1am if you're lucky enough to have a venue with a late curfew so if you want to party even harder, ask your Warble adviser to recommend bands who offer these services.

What Kind Of Music Do Folk Bands Play?

Our acoustic folk bands play so much more than folk music! They'll play folk-style favourites like George Ezra, Jason Mraz and of course Mumford and Sons, but they offer so much more too! They'll put a fun folky twist on everything from rock n roll classics to Soul and Motown favourites and most will crank up the volume and play explosive indie anthems as you get further into the night. This is what makes folk bands so incredibly popular - their eclectic repertoires are absolutely perfect for gettting guests of all ages onto the dance floor and their cheeky chappy charm and charisma makes each and every guest feel special.

Do I Need To Hire A DJ When I Hire A Folk Band?

No, there's absolutely no need to hire a DJ. Our folk bands will play music through a laptop or tablet while they're offstage to keep spirits high and make sure the dancing doesn't stop. This is known as a 'playlist DJ service'. Many bands offer upgrades to this service, from manned services to full pro-DJ setups so make sure to check out your band's profile or check with your adviser about what is available.

Can I Choose Which Songs My Folk Band Play?

Our lovely folk bands should be more than happy to include some of your favourite songs from their repertoire in their setlist for you wedding reception - just let them know a few songs you'd love to hear and they'll do their best to get them in. We strongly recommend leaving the rest of the song choices up to the band as their experience in the field will have taught them which songs result in a packed-out dance floor and which are likely to tank! Each group of wedding guests is different so it's always best to rely on the band to read the room and choose the best songs to keep everyone on their toes.

Will A Folk Band Play Our First Dance?

Yes! Nearly all our folk bands will learn and play your first dance for free. This special moment will be made even more magical with a unique version of your first dance song - perfect!

How Far In Advance Should I Book A Folk Band?

Folk bands are INCREDIBLY popular and the most sought-after bands get booked over two years in advance. For this reason we suggest booking your wedding band as soon as you've booked your venue. Don't miss out on your favourite band because someone pipped you to the post!

Can You Help Me Choose My Folk Band?

We can! Just let us know a few details about you, your wedding venue and date and we can help you shortlist a list of wonderful folk bands to suit your wedding style and budget. You'll be assigned a Warble adviser from your initial inquiry so they're there to help with every aspect of your booking.

Can Folk Bands Also Play in The Daytime?

Many folk bands will offer acoustic daytime sets that are absolutely perfect for breathing sunshine and cheer into your drinks reception. If you fancy listening to a full band line-up while your guests get their glasses clinking, you've chosen the right genre of band! Lots of folk bands offer a roaming band service, where the entire band is mobile and will wander around, interacting with your guests as they play. This adds a real wow-factor to proceedings and is the perfect way to make lasting memories and get the party started before your evening reception has even begun!
