Having performed at some of the world’s most prestigious and respected festivals and venues, including a residency at The Burj Al Arab, Dubai and headline appearances at Glastonbury’s Jazz and Blues Stage, Ryan is a fully versatile and experienced artist.
Brought up on a strict diet of Stevie Wonder, Prince, James Brown and Michael Jackson, as well as Robert Glasper, Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock, Ryan injects some jazz and soul into the nu-funk idiom.
With over 20 years professional experience, Ryan has worked alongside numerous artists of note. In addition to providing keys to some of the best in the business, Ryan produces his own music. 2019 saw the release of his “#newlife” album, which features the legendary Haggis Horns (Jamiroquai, John Legend and the Roots, Mark Ronson), Joost Hendrickx (Shatners Bassoon, Submotion Orchestra, Kefaya) and Ali Mac (Thabo, Portmanteau).
Academic
Graduating from Leeds College of Music, Ryan holds a BA Degree in Jazz and a Masters Degree in Performance and Composition. Moving forward, Ryan is currently a PhD researcher at University of Sheffield with a special interest in music’s potential in public engagement.

Brilliant performance. I would highly recommend him.

After seeing Ryan perform 4 years ago when we decided to get married he was our immediate choice to perform for our Evening Reception. Ryan’s performance is so stylish and reflects the genre of music we love. Several guests have requested his details as would want to see him perform again. A classy performer who delivered our Entertainment with a refreshing difference to the norm when it comes to Weddings!
We give you a bespoke price based on the exact location of your event. The pricing below is based on a central location for your area so you have an idea of what your price will be. The exact price will be given in the booking process after you’ve provided the location details.
I note that you play many styles. Are you able to provide jazz for dining followed by pop for dancing?
Of course - I offer various packages to accommodate your itinerary and from a logistics point of view, this prevents you having two bands taking up that much needed dancefloor space! Let me know your requirements and I shall work closely with you to ensure the smooth running of your event.
“I'm Still Standing” and “Girl From Ipanema” seem to be at opposite ends of the musical spectrum - how does this work regarding set consistency?
I am able to play almost any song in any style. Given my speciality however, most of the music I perform is given a neo-soul jazz facelift. This, of course, can be ramped up to dancefloor standards as the evening progresses.
Can you offer a DJ service?
I provide a pre-mixed playlist, or can accept your mp3 player for before, between and after my live sets as standard. For a more dynamic performance to go with the flow of the event, a live DJ service can be added into your package at an additional cost.
Do you take requests?
My repertoire is extensive (over 500 songs and counting) so I rarely pre-plan a setlist, and instead tend to go with the flow of the event. I will however, consider special requests in advance - just let me know and I’ll advise as necessary.
