A Country Farm Wedding – Katherine & Alex

A country farm wedding, bright blue skies, green fields and a fun loving couple… Katherine & Alex are the best of friends and were clearly made for each other. The wonderful photography from Ian Bursill really captured the love and laughter the wedding day brought and just wait until you see Toby, the Beagle.

The great thing about all of this for Warble, is that we had the pleasure of attending and being part of their incredible day at Swancar Farm. The lucky pair won their wedding entertainment through a Wedding Ideas Magazine competition but unfortunately, the company that was supposed to be providing it let them down and this is where we stepped in. We provided all of their entertainment free of charge after the lovely people at Wedding Ideas magazine told us what had happened. Amazing party band ‘The Volume‘ proved to be just what the Katherine and Alex were looking for and they provided acoustic music during the afternoon and helped the whole wedding party dance the night away.

Tell us a bit about yourselves…

We have been together for over 5 years now and met whilst at work, it was love over the desk in the office. We were friends before, went on a group holiday and came back as a couple, as they say… the rest is history. We are both accountants and this was obvious during the wedding planning with the number of Excel spreadsheets and lists that we had on the go. Alex proposed during a lovely weekend in Barcelona, it was beautiful. The third member of our family is Toby the Beagle who made a guest appearance at the wedding. I arranged this as a surprise for Alex, he cried when he saw Toby but not when his beautiful bride walked down the aisle.

The Venue?

We looked round a number of venues and immediately realised that we wanted to go for a ‘barn feel’ venue. We then narrowed it down to 3, when we saw Swancar we knew that it was the one for us. We were so so lucky with the weather the week before it poured down most days and I even contemplated going out to buy white wellies and a brolly. But the day couldn’t have been any different it was clear blue skies so we could make the most of the courtyard at the venue.

The Décor?

A lot of the decoration was made by ourselves and some helping hands during regular ‘crafternoon’ sessions. Though I can safely say that I am now fed up of cutting and sticking and am hanging up my scissors.

The Dress?

I dragged my Mum around a number of wedding dress shops which involved lots of lunches out. I finally found ‘the one’ in The Bridal Suite in West Bridgeford, Nottingham.

The Suits?

Moss Bros… luckily we had suit insurance as one of the usher threw a crazy dance move and split his trousers in a revealing place!

The Entertainment?

I won our wedding entertainment in a competition and Warble Entertainment were extremely helpful in finding us the perfect wedding band that best suited us when the original company completely let us down. With all of the other stresses that go with organising a wedding, Warble Entertainment took away all of the worry and stress around our entertainment, the team were always friendly and we had every confidence that they would find us an amazing band and they did… Thanks Warble! The Volume were our chosen band and were absolutely amazing! They created a party atmosphere and had the majority of people up on the dance floor having a boogie.
