The Medieval Princes

Flamboyant Early Music power trio, in full costume and with a sense of humour, The Medieval Princes will give your party a dynamic and memorable flavour.

The Medieval Princes are only ever contented when they have made their audience sweat. This ‘Tudor power trio’ regularly brings a rowdy peak to many a bash, festival and historical event. With an Early Music repertoire ranging from Medieval through Renaissance to early Hanoverian, as well as appearing in full costume; this eccentric and always-entertaining trio has played at many cultural events in Britain and around the world.

Recent projects have included appearances and recording music for Julia Davis' award-winning Sky Atlantic TV series 'Hunderby', as well as appearances on 'The One Show' and 'Imagine' for the BBC.

Following the sad death of the irreplaceable Antony Elvin in 2021, The Medieval Princes have now welcomed Jude Rees to their line-up, who plays wind instruments including shawm, crumhorn, recorder and bagpipe. Together, they have entertained the public from trendy Shoreditch to the olive groves of Palma. Double wind is now a feature of the band!

The Medieval Princes can give a talk on the instruments and add context with reference to the history of the period if requested. They can provide fanfares to announce your guests' arrival and points of note in the event, dining music or dancing music. They are also happy to learn a song for you with prior notice, and you can come and have a jam with them, on a song or two!

In short, they can be as delicate or bombastic as the client and event require. They enjoy enjoyment!
