The Wedding Days String Quartet was formed in 2001 at the Birmingham Conservatoire where they studied with members from the Maggini and Coull Quartets. In 2007, they were awarded the Elgar Chamber Music Price for their performance of Elgar's Piano Quintet. In 2003, The Wedding Days String Quartet received first prize in the Sylvia Cleaver Chamber Music competition and was also awarded The Derek Young Memorial Award.
Recently the Wedding Days String Quartet has performed recitals for the Birmingham Chamber Music Society, Malvern Concert Club Knighton Chamber Music Society, Dudley Chamber Music Society, Bromsgrove Chamber Music Society and at the Young Musicians' Festival. The Wedding Days String Quartet have also performed piano quintets with Alan Schiller and John Humphreys and recently performed in Spain and France.
In January 2004, The Wedding Days String Quartet participated in the String Quartet Festival at the Royal Northern College of Music and has also participated in the London String Quartet Festival twice. The Wedding Days Quartet recently featured on the front cover of the educational supplement to Strand magazine. In June 2005 they performed as soloists with the Birmingham Conservatoire String Orchestra.
Apart from their classical recital work they have a wide repertoire of lighter music. They have music ranging from Bach to Coldplay suitable for any occasion. Members of The Wedding Days String Quartet have appeared on pop and film music recordings and have performed on luxury cruise ships. The members of the quartet work with professional orchestras such as BBC Philharmonic and BBC NOW.
