A sound check for an average band takes just over an hour. For larger bands or those with a more complex sound system this can take up to three hours. Band members are highly-experienced in ensuring the sound check is as unobtrusive as possible and your venue should have some tried and tested tricks to keep your guests away while it's going on.

Most wedding bands will be onstage for a total of two hours, usually split into 2x 60-minute or 3x 40-minute sets to suit your schedule. Some offer extra sets and late finishes so ask your adviser to suggest bands who offer these services if this is something you'd like to book.

It's really tempting to ask your band to play all your favourite songs from their repertoire but we'd actually advise against it. If there are a few songs you'd really like them to play, let them know and they'll happily include them in their setlist for the evening, but it's strongly recommended to leave the rest of the song choices up to them.
