About

Cormac are no strangers to the folk scene and have been playing at pubs, clubs and festivals throughout the UK for the past 4 years. However, the musical pedigree of the individual players goes back much further.

Joanne has played the flute from the age of 7, has a formal music education and also plays the saxophone and keyboards. Joanne’s favourite instrument is a silver flute on which she can play virtually any style of music ranging from Irish through Country to Rock and Roll!

Ken is a self taught musician who started playing guitar flamenco style at the age of 18 and later graduated to Mandolin, Mandola and Banjo as he became interested in Traditional Irish music. He has played as a session musician with various Irish and Folk bands and has a unique Mandolin style. He plays a Sobell Mandolin, acknowledged to be one of the best instruments around and a Ryder 4 string electric mandolin.

Alan is an accomplished musician who can play a range of instruments from guitar to keyboards. He has played with several bands ranging from Folk Rock to a top flight Ceili band. He currently features on a Deering electric Banjo and Sobell Bouzuki in Cormac. He is a tunesmith and his knowledge of Irish tunes is unsurpassed.

Barrie sings and plays a Loud-One (Louden) Guitar. He is well known and has played on the folk and country scene for many years and acknowledged as having one of the largest and varied song repertoires in the business.

With BBC radio performances under their belt, Cormac is becoming well known for their particular brand of music. Fully equipped and ready to play at all types of venues small to large, the band also specialise in Ceili’s and have excellent Callers for all types, whether an Irish, Scottish or English flavour!

Everything went really well on Saturday. The band were fantastic - really lively and everyone commented on how good they were. They were very professional - arriving in plenty of time, getting set up, checking out the running times and playing to time. Would definitely book them again. Booking process was all very easy as well. With thanks and best wishes.

The guys were brilliant, exactly what we were expecting. They had everyone up dancing and were very easy to work with. No problems with shortening their break time in between sets to keep the party going. Fantastic!

We thought that the pre-occasion communication and their flexibility with the music type was excellent. They were punctual and set up efficiently without disrupting our function. Ken seemed to be their main link man and we found him friendly and accommodating. Their overall performance was just what we hoped for and all our guests enjoyed their music singing and dancing - especially the ceilidh dances we did. We are very pleased that we booked them.
