About

A solo violinist with a difference!

Simon trained at the Royal Academy of Music and has graced concert halls across Europe, including an annual performance for the Prime Minister's Christmas party. Although classically trained, Simon can perform all kinds of music, including pop, jazz, rock, ballads, blues and improvisation. Simon prides himself on the quality of his performance; he will play exactly what you want to hear, not arriving with a set list like other musicians. He will also take on-the-spot requests and can play any tune you hum to him.

Simon will communicate with you and ask for a list of pieces you want to hear and then locate or arrange them himself. He has a library of some 30,000 pieces. Simon has perfect pitch and can transcribe and arrange any piece of recorded music.

After booking Simon, he will work with clients or to their brief to compile a carefully crafted programme of music, often working on his own arrangements for many days before the event.

Simon can also play the piano for you.

    FAQs

How different are you from every other musician out there?
If you book me, you can be secure in the knowledge that I am a highly experienced and professional musician. I passed Grade 8 violin with distinction at age 13, and have played solo on some of Europe's most respected concert stages. And before you book me you can audition me. You can hear me play live, either in person or using Skype. You can pick every song, every piece, every note (if you prefer), and I'll give your wedding the same musical attention to detail I would give my own.

    Will you take requests?
I'll let you choose the music throughout! You can be as prescriptive as you like - list the songs and pieces you absolutely have to hear, or those you definitely don't want to. Or give me guidelines as to the genres, bands, styles and performers you like. I have access to a library of 5,000 songs and am quite willing to add to it. I'll also take requests on the day, if I know them or have the music with me.

What areas of the country do you cover?
I live and work in London and Buckinghamshire and travel all over the south of England and Wales. Recent bookings have included trips to Bridgend, Gloucester, Birmingham, Colchester and Southampton. All travel costs are included in my quoted price.

    Do you have insurance?
Yes, I have full Public Liability Insurance cover, and all of my equipment is PAT-tested annually.

Will you play for my business event / private party?
I'm very happy to. Previous corporate clients include the BBC, Volkswagen and several private London banks.

Do you play to backing tracks?
I do not currently use backing tracks - they prohibit the spontaneity and vibrancy of live music, and, to be honest, you are better off playing from an iPod. The solo violin sound is far more striking. If you prefer, I can perform with a pianist (we can bring a piano with us).
